New to Create?
You don’t need to know Create to join. This is the shortest path from “just spawned” to “flying my own airship” — skip anything you already know.
The one idea Create is built on
Create runs on rotational force. Something spins, that spin travels along shafts and cogwheels, and machines consume it to do work.
Two numbers matter:
- Speed (RPM) — how fast it turns. Some machines need a minimum
- Stress — how much work you’re asking for. Generators supply it, machines consume it. Exceed the supply and everything stops
When your contraption dies for no obvious reason, it’s almost always stress. Add another generator.
Your first machine
- Andesite Alloy is the gateway item — zinc and iron. Make a lot; everything needs it
- Cogwheels and shafts move rotation around. Large and small cogs together change the speed
- A Water Wheel on flowing water is the easiest first generator. Cheap, quiet, no fuel
- Feed that into a Millstone or Mechanical Press and you’ve automated your first thing
Point a Goggles-equipped face at any Create block to see its speed and stress readout. Wear them constantly while learning — Create tells you exactly what’s wrong if you look.
Moving up
- Windmills scale better than water wheels once you have room
- Steam is the real answer later — more setup, far more output
- Mechanical Belts for items, Fluid Pipes for liquids
- Trains once you want to connect bases
Then: airships
Once you’re comfortable assembling contraptions, Create: Aeronautics is the step up — real flying ships you build and pilot.
Go to airships when you’re ready. Build small first; a tiny test ship teaches you the controls without risking hours of work.
Things that trip up new players here
Claim before you build. See claims. Unclaimed builds aren’t protected, and land claims are full-height columns — so someone’s claim above you affects you too.
Stress before speed. Almost every “it stopped working” is insufficient stress capacity, not a broken build.
Give the game 5–8 GB of RAM. More is worse, not better — see faq.
